The Night Shift Nurse Supervisor (RN/LPN) at Friendship Richfield Health Center provides direct nursing care and supervises day-to-day activities of nursing assistants. Responsible for all nursing on shift, you serve as first responder in emergencies and ensure resident well-being. Observe care, document changes, reactions, and incidents while directing staff duties.

Supervise medication administration, implement physician orders, and manage supplies for wound care, blood glucose, and incontinence. Assure care plans are followed, order bloodwork, handle drug counts, and administer injections. Coordinate medical appointments, transportation, diets, fluid intake/output, and physician notifications.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered RN or LPN license in the state of Virginia required
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in a long-term care or nursing facility preferred
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch all day
  • Ability to frequently lift or move objects weighing over 50 pounds
  • Familiarity with supervising nursing assistants in shift-based long-term care

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all nursing activity occurring on shift and serve as first responder in emergencies
  • Ensure well-being and care of all residents
  • Observe resident care and document condition changes, significant reactions, and incidents
  • Direct activities of nursing staff, assign and supervise duties, determine staffing needs, and handle disciplinary actions
  • Supervise medication administration including MAR reviews, changes, and discontinued medications
  • Implement physician orders including documentation on MAR and ordering medications
  • Prepare documentation for medical appointments and schedule transportation as needed
  • Order bloodwork, maintain supplies for wound care, blood glucose testing, and incontinence; manage drug counts and administer injections
