About this role

As a member of the Personal Care Home team, the Personal Care Aide assists residents by providing care that allows them to function at their highest level. Services provided for residents over 18 years of age regardless of age, race, religion, and cultural background. Majority of services for elderly residents; must be 18 years of age.

Assist residents with ADLs including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring. Help with medication administration and serving meals to assure adequate nutrition and hydration. Make rounds, anticipate resident needs, and respond to call bells in a timely manner.

Report to supervisor any pertinent information, including changes observed in resident condition and behavior. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local government rules and regulations.

Complete required documentation, training, and education to maintain certifications. Participate in annual 12-hour training, Department of Public Welfare Medication Course, staff meetings, and performance improvement activities. Training and certification provided upon hiring.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Maintains Medication Administration Certification, CPR and First Aid certification
  • Complete Department-approved medications administration course and diabetes education for blood glucose testing
  • Successful completion of Department-approved direct care training course and competency test
  • Training in safe management techniques, ADLs and IADLs, personal hygiene, dementia care
  • Knowledge of normal aging, nutrition, infection control, universal precautions
  • Experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to read, write, and understand written and oral communication
