About this role
The Agency Nurse oversees medical care of service recipients and provides training and guidance to employees for health and safety standards plus state requirements. As a leadership team member, guides strategic plans and outcomes for medical care. Delivers state-mandated medical trainings and reports to the COO while working with the Director of Residential Services.
Oversee day-to-day medical care of service recipients and collaborate with providers, pharmacies, hospitals, and support teams for thorough treatment plans. Develop and refine agency medical policies, procedures, and standards of practice. Utilize Therap software for MAR implementation, oversight, accurate transcriptions, orders, and medication passes.
Act as infection preventionist by assisting with vaccination strategies, monitoring health threats, and educating on prevention, PPE use, quarantine protocols, and outbreak planning. Conduct bi-monthly site visits to all residences for CRMA compliance, nursing standards, and reporting concerns with action plans. Review clinical documentation for prospective admissions to assess service fit.
Train employees on Certified Residential Medication Administration, DEBB, safe lifts, personal care essentials, First Aid/CPR, and onboarding needs. Perform med cart audits before licensing surveys and develop correction plans. Serve as advocate ensuring highest possible care for service recipients.
Requirements
- Active nursing license suitable for agency oversight and training in residential services
- Proficiency with Therap software for MAR and medication administration oversight
- Knowledge of CRMA (Certified Residential Medication Administration) training and recertification
- Expertise in infection prevention, vaccination protocols, PPE, and outbreak planning
- Ability to conduct med cart audits and ensure state licensing compliance
- Experience reviewing clinical documentation for admissions in residential care settings
Responsibilities

- Collaborate with medical providers, pharmacies, support teams, hospitals and other medical care settings to ensure thorough and enacted treatment plans
- Develop and refine agency medical policies, procedures, and standards of practice
- Utilize the online software system (Therap) for MAR implementation and oversight to confirm accurate transcriptions, orders, and medication passes
- Act as an infection preventionist for NRS employees by assisting with strategies to meet mandated vaccination requirements and monitor new health threats
- Conduct bi-monthly site visits to all NRS residences to ensure CRMA compliance and nursing standards
- Complete in-person med cart audits 60 days prior to expiring home licenses and develop plans of action for corrections
