Discovery Mood and Anxiety Program is a national leader in behavioral healthcare, offering evidence-based treatment for mental health disorders since 1997. The Nurse Shift Supervisor functions under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, interfacing with medical and clinical services. Serves as a liaison between the Director of Nursing and nursing staff, planning, implementing, directing and evaluating nursing care for all patients.

Provides exceptional care through assessment, monitoring and communicating observations to treatment teams. Serves as the shift supervisor for all nursing care, providing orientation and training to new nursing staff. Develops and initiates the Nursing Care Plan, facilitates therapeutic nursing or health groups, and ensures clear client documentation.

Implements Physician Orders, administers medication as prescribed, and counts narcotics daily. Ensures Medication Administration Records are completed in the electronic medical record system. Communicates with BHT staff as a link to the clinical team, assessing psychological and medical issues for reporting to leadership.

Leads staff and delegates responsibilities professionally in conjunction with the Director of Nursing. Coordinates emergency medical care and works with multi-disciplinary teams to resolve patient issues. Covers shifts when needed to ensure appropriate nursing coverage while promoting patient safety and security.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved nursing program
  • Current licensure from an appropriate state licensing board
  • RN preferred; LVN/LPN required
  • Ability to assess psychological and medical issues and prioritize reporting
  • Knowledge of medication administration, narcotic logging, and infection control
  • Experience completing medical and nutritional assessments upon admission
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems for documentation
