Saint Mary's Behavioral Health Center, LLC is an evidence-based, client-centered treatment program offering residential therapeutic interventions in a warm, welcoming environment. Nurses thrive in our team-based, client-centric setting as the first medical professional working with patients. They provide medical and history screens, routine nursing care, and oversee medical and psychiatric management with the attending physician.

Conduct nursing assessments, monitor patients for clinical signs and symptoms, and follow prescribed treatments. Assist with medication management, ensure Universal Precautions, and facilitate health education groups on general health and medication interactions. Implement specific protocols designated by the Director of Nursing or Clinical Director.

As a Treatment Team member, provide input into the Master Treatment Plan and assist in incorporating medical issues. Communicate patient health concerns to the Director of Nursing, meet with therapists on medical problems, and take verbal orders accurately. Function well as a team member contributing to staff morale.

SMBHC trains motivated candidates passionate about quality care. Attend in-service functions, participate in Performance Improvement and Utilization Review committees. Maintain up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, and Fire Safety.

Requirements

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Motivated and passionate about providing quality care in behavioral health
  • Ability to thrive in a team-based, client-centric environment
  • Knowledge of psychiatric medication management and patient monitoring
  • Flexibility to work night shifts (7pm-7am) with every other weekend
  • Proficiency in conducting medical and history screens
  • Commitment to Universal Precautions and infection control

Responsibilities

  • Conduct nursing assessments and monitoring of patients
  • Assist with medication management
  • Ensure Universal Precautions of the unit
  • Facilitate health education groups including General Health Education and Medication/Drug Interactions
  • Observe and assess patients for clinical signs and symptoms and follow prescribed courses of treatment
  • Determine and implement specific protocols as designated by the Director of Nursing/Clinical Director
  • Effectively communicate concerns about patient health to the Director of Nursing
  • Facilitate medication education for new patients and those starting new medications

Benefits
