About this role

This position is part of the departmental leadership team that provides clinical supervision on a shift basis. It includes coordination and assignment of patient care, functioning as a unit patient flow coordinator for admissions, discharges, and transfers. Serves as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for staff.

Coordinates unit staffing for the next shift with the Director/Clinical Manager, Coordinator, and/or House Officer. Provides supervisory input into department staff evaluations and performance reviews. Completes established competencies within the designated introductory period.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing
  • 1 year in an equivalent unit
  • Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
  • Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days)
  • ACLS/TNCC, PALS, NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E., Fetal Monitoring, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention required depending on department
  • National Specialty Certification preferred
  • 4 years in an equivalent unit preferred
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Nursing or advanced degree in a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical supervision on a shift basis including coordination and assignment of patient care
  • Function as a unit patient flow coordinator facilitating admissions, discharges, and transfers
  • Coordinate unit staffing for next shift with the Director/Clinical Manager, Coordinator, and/or House Officer
  • Serve as a clinical and leadership resource and role model for the staff
  • Provide supervisory input into department staff evaluations and performance reviews
  • Complete established competencies for the position within designated introductory period
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
