About this role

Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute seeks an experienced Registered Nurse Manager to lead a team of RNs, LPNs, and PCTs providing nursing care to adult psychiatric patients ages 18-64 in a safe therapeutic environment. This role supervises 2nd shift staff and oversees patient care operations.

Works closely with multidisciplinary treatment team to provide collaborative trauma-informed psychiatric care. Prioritizes care according to patient acuity and manages changes in patient behavior or physical condition. Actively assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care from admission through discharge.

Supervises nurses and PCTs on 2nd shift while offering supervision and support to ensure highest level of care. Positioned at 72-bed Joint Commission accredited SVMHI in Danville, VA. DBHDS promotes recovery, self-determination, and wellness across behavioral health facilities.

This second shift position works 3:00-11:30 p.m. as scheduled with flexibility including weekends and holidays in rotation. Supports individuals needing intensive services for mental illness. Committed to a life of possibilities for all Virginians.

Requirements

Current and in good standing Registered Nurse license to practice in Virginia or license eligible; multi-state compact endorsement accepted
Graduation from an accredited registered nurse program
Experience in psychiatric nursing
Prior supervisory experience
Valid driver's license required and must remain valid throughout employment

Responsibilities

Lead a team of RNs, LPNs, and PCTs in providing nursing care to adult psychiatric patients ages 18-64

Hiring Range: $107,812 minimum, negotiable based on relevant years of experience
Shift Differentials: 2nd shift weekday $5.50 per hour, 2nd shift weekend/holidays $6.00 per hour
